When driving around White River or perhaps cycling on some of the local dirt roads – perhaps even arriving the airport – you are bound to notice these classic wooden fences that let you know you’re in the countryside.
White River is Eucalyptus country and these post & rail fences are one of the products that stays local. Made of solid hand selected Eucalyptus Grandis poles, these fences fit together easily with no need for nails or bolts, and are designed to last more than 25 years.
The poles are pressure treated after machining and drilling etc. to guarantee protection. This process is SATAS certified. Quality and workmanship are guaranteed.
Many of us know “Pull Scar” as the company that for years has designed and manufactured these fences from its own timber grown just north of White River. Sloan Crossley is another name we know well and although there has been a change of business name and the forestry is now owned by MTO, the fence and gates business is still owned and managed by Sloan. In fact the timber comes from the same forests and the manufacturing is done right here.
Known for their good service, reliability and quality – these guys have been in business for 28 years. It’s no wonder their fences are everywhere and not just in the Lowveld – all over South Africa!
Fences are normally thought of as barriers cutting up the landscape, but these are easy on the eye and add to the picturesque countryside.
Crossley also produces classic wooden gates of various sizes to go with the fences with steel frames and these include hinges and Barrel locks.
The fences have a range of styles from 750mm high single rails to higher 2.5m high 4-rail Buffalo enclosures. These ranch style fences can be used for gardens, horse enclosures, balustrades for decks, road edgings or simply decoration. They are easily fitted with wire mesh to keep dogs in or buck out.
Crossley are the sole supplier to many estates and schools in and around White River and Mbombela.
