Casterbridge Circle project, we’ve received an update from Belinda McLintock and Rowan Torr, who are driving the initiative by local business and residents.

Encirclement is an instinctive method of protection, used by man and beast alike. How symbolic then, that the enormous, unsightly circle at the R538 & R40 intersection in White River is about to undergo a physical transformation, themed “Save the Rhino’.
We love using Instagram to visually catch up on what people are doing around the Lowveld. Below are some summer holiday adventure snaps, that we found while flicking through our phones. Some of the Instagram users are from here, and some were here on Holiday. It is so nice to see White River through different eyes and what a beautiful place it is!
Although Hugo Stroud acknowledges KMI is for the whole region, the new airport owners do see White River as their neighbouring community and want to engage nearby talent as they effect the improvements and changes presently taking place at the airport.
Recently I heard that there was an estimate of 14 thousand or so people that make the sojourn through the Kingsview Mall. All on their way to earn an honest day wages to provide for their families. Tea ‘girls’ and garden ‘boys’. Microcosm of migrant workers who get going for their day long before I’ve snoozed my alarm.
So, we’ve already had plenty of interest in our Facebook page and we’re excited about getting more involvement as our website grows.
“We are White River” is all about community. This means different things to people and it would be great to get contributions about that and more specifically what it means for White River.
It’s exciting to get this project off the ground at last! There is a lot still to be done, but it is my hope that this small start will lead to the building of a great WR community.
White River is full of talented, wonderful people, surrounded by natural beauty and close to wild experiences. I am proud to call it home.
